Wasabi is a spicy condiment, often used with sushi and sashimi, derived from the rhizomes of the Wasabia japonica plant. It's known for its bright green color and pungent, almost burning, flavor, especially when freshly grated. While true wasabi is a delicacy and can be expensive, many commercial products are blends of horseradish and other ingredients.

What is wasabi good for?

  • Flavor and Spice:

Wasabi adds a distinct, pungent flavor and a spicy kick to dishes, particularly sushi and sashimi.

  • Flavor Enhancer:

It can also be used as a flavor enhancer, adding a subtle vegetal flavor when paired with other foods like fish, steak, and oysters.
